Vineyard Locations

When most people think of winemaking, they usually think of California, France, Germany... but Rhode Island?

One of Rhode Island's most surprising roles is the one it plays in the quality wine industry emerging from the eastern seaboard. New England's climate, moderated by its close proximity to the ocean, provides the area with an ideal growing season for several varieties of wine-making grapes.

There are five wineries open to the public in Rhode Island: Sakonnet Vineyards and Winery in Little Compton, Diamond Hill Vineyards in Cumberland, Newport Vineyards and Winery in Middletown, Greenvale Vineyards in Portsmouth and Langworthy Farm Winery in Westerly.

If travelers have a thirst for something different, discover winemaking in Rhode Island. All five wineries offer tours and wine tastings, and most can accommodate special events including picnics, reunions and parties as well as incentive and corporate functions.
